Hardwood floor care
and water
Because hardwood floors are susceptible to water damage, hardwood floor care can be just a little different than caring for vinyl or tile floors. Use this easy test to determine if your wood floor has a polyurethane finish or if it's waxed or oiled. Choose a small, inconspicuous area of the floor, and put a drop of water on it. Allow the water to evaporate completely. If a small white circle appears, the floor is probably waxed or oiled. Remove the white circle by rubbing in and buffing a small amount of wax, and contact the floor manufacturer for an appropriate cleaning recommendation.

Hardwood floor care
and vacuums
If you’re worried about marks from your vacuum cleaner when cleaning hardwood floors, try Swiffer SweperVac. It’s lightweight, plus it traps and locks it all, big and small.

Hardwood floor care
and product
Polyurethane-treated and laminate floors can be cleaned with a product that's specially designed for hardwood floor care. But be sure to use a system that minimizes moisture on your floors such as the Swiffer WetJet.

Hardwood floor care
and carpet
Carpeting only looks good for so long. Instead of replacing it, consider what might lie beneath. Could you possibly have hardwood under there? Even if the floors need some refinishing, you can really update and freshen a room with gleaming floors and perhaps a new area rug. Natural substances for floors such as tile and wood are always a classic way to enhance your home while offering good durability. If you're not sure what condition the floor underneath the carpet is in, start small—pull up a section under a piece of furniture or in an unobtrusive spot to check before proceeding. Some floors were covered for a reason; be prepared to consult a pro if yours is one of them!
Hardwood floor care
and mops
Drop that mop. Swiffer WetJet is a versatile wood floor cleaner. It traps and locks what a mop and bucket leave behind, and it’s convenient to store anywhere.

Hardwood floor care
and touchups
Here is what you will need to touch up your wood furniture:

• Soft cloth
• Wood stain stick (to match wood surface,
available at most hardware stores)

First, clean wood surfaces. Then, using a wood stain stick, touch up any nicks or scratched areas on the finish. Using a soft cloth, lightly brush the edges of the stain to blend, and let dry.

Hardwood floor care
and brooms
Swiffer has a great alternative to a broom. Keep a Swiffer Sweeper handy because it’s great as a daily regimen for cleaning hardwood floors. The disposable pad makes things much more tidy than a broom and dustpan could.

Hardwood floor care
and rugs
A runner rug should be the first thing everyone steps on when they enter your home, even if you have carpeting. Choose a neutral color that hides dirt, and make sure it's thick enough to soak up water from wet boots. If you have hardwood floors, use non-slip backing with the rug to prevent it from sliding and causing someone to fall.
